The joint UNOPS Norway Programme is playing a key role in preparing Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for the upcoming bilateral screening phase with the European Union.
Equipping Key Actors with Knowledge
The Programme organized two successful training courses in March 2024. The first targeted the Commission on European Integration, a national body composed of heads of EU coordination institutions across all levels of BiH's government. The second session focused on the Advisory Body, a group of EU advisors to BiH's prime ministers at all levels. Both trainings addressed the upcoming bilateral screening process, a crucial step in BiH's journey towards EU membership.
Positive Feedback Leads to Expansion
The Directorate for European Integration recognized the value of these trainings and requested additional sessions for their entire staff, which were delivered in Sarajevo on April 22, 2024. This demonstrates the programme's effectiveness in equipping key personnel with the knowledge they need to navigate the EU integration process.
Looking Ahead: High-Level Briefings
Building on this success, the UNOPS Norway Programme is currently preparing briefings for BiH's highest-level decision-makers, including prime ministers at all levels of government. These briefings will address upcoming needs and ensure BiH's leadership is well-informed as the country progresses towards EU integration.
