North Macedonia Advances Preparation for EU Integration Talks with New Cluster 1 Negotiation Training

As part of the EU integration process, the Ministry for European Affairs (MEA) of North Macedonia, with the support of the UNOPS implemented projects Support to European Integration of North Macedonia, and the Knowledge for Reform Action in the Western Balkans, conducted a two-day online workshop on to strengthen national capacities for drafting negotiating positions under Cluster 1 – Fundamentals.

The training built on earlier work carried out under the project, including the development of roadmaps, the Growth Plan Reform Agenda 2024–2027, and a manual for drafting negotiating positions. With the evolving EU methodology and comparative experiences from countries like Albania, this workshop aimed to update and expand the knowledge of MEA coordinators in drafting pilot negotiating positions for Chapter 32 – Financial Control and Chapter 18 – Statistics.

Sessions included presentations of key elements of the pilot drafts, discussions on recent methodological updates, and interactive exchanges with national stakeholders.
