On 28 May 2024, the joint Norway/UNOPS K4R programme participated in a high level conference in Sarajevo organized on the occasion of the opening of the EU accession process of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Numerous officials from all government levels, members of working bodies on European integration, heads of EU accession negotiation teams from other countries in the region and representatives of the diplomatic corps in BiH gathered in the Great Hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The discussion centered on the horizontal needs of the negotiation process, as well as the preparations for the upcoming explanatory and bilateral screening. Participants from Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia presented their experience and lessons learned in the process of preparing and conducting the accession negotiations, the screening of national legislation, as well as setting up the negotiation structure.

Presently, the K4R UNOPS/Norway programme is supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts through the provision of horizontal technical assistance for the next steps of the EU accession process.
