Aligning the Law on interoperability and safety in railways with the EU acquis

Context and goal

UNOPS is supporting the Ministry of Transport to close Chapter 14 Transport policy through alignment of the Law on interoperability and safety in railways with the relevant EU acquis. The new Law should advance efficient, safe, modern, sustainable and integrated railway traffic. Quotes

“Montenegro’s Law on interoperability and safety in railways is not only in need of harmonization with EU legislation in the process of Montenegro’s EU integration, it is much more a prerequisite for attracting new investments on Montenegrin railways. There is a need to facilitate cooperation with neighboring railways, as well as a need for safer railway traffic that keeps pace with innovations, new technologies and characteristics of new generations that will be employed on the railways of Montenegro in the future.”
